Relaxing/Swedish Massage is a hands-on treatment, usually the client is covered with towels to ensure modesty. Grapeseed or Almond oil is used, and flowing movements help to ease away the stress and tension in the body.
Benefits of massage may include:
Aromatherapy Massage aims to treat the whole person by helping to improve both physical and emotional well- being using essential oils combined with massage.
Depending on your requirements of body and mind the individual essential oils are chosen and blended together in a base oil of either Grapeseed or Almond oil.
The oils work on two main levels, on is through the sense of smell and the lymbic system in the brain, the other is by being absorbed through the skin.
To obtain the maximum benefit from this massage please refrain from a bath or shower for 12 hours.
Benefits are similar those of massage (see above)
Hot Stones Massage is a lovely relaxing massage with the use of heated stones gliding over the body. The muscles relax quicker with heat, so this massage can be a stand alone or it can be combined with deep tissue techniques to ease out the tension and knots. The stones are heated in a water bath and retain their heat during the massage, oil is applied to the body so that the stones move smoothly over the skin.
Benefits may include; (similar to massage)
Lava Shell Relax Massage uses self-heating lava shells in combination with the luxurious range of Kokolokahi oils. The heat generated in the shells penetrates the body causing relaxation of the muscles. The shells glide over the body and the three different sections of the shells, the crown, the hinge and edge, are used during the massage to provide effective relaxation of the muscles where needed. This is even better than a hot stones massage.
Benefits as above.
Indian Head Massage covers the areas of the upper back and shoulders; upper arms; neck and scalp. Using a variety of movements to help you relax and unwind, thereby releasing the tension held in this area.
This treatment can be conducted either in a seated or lying position. Clothing can remain on, and the treatment carried out without oil, or you may wish to remove your upper clothing, and be covered with towels.
Benefits may include;
Reflexology is a treatment based on the principles that reflex points on the feet correspond to areas throughout the body. In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham mapped out the areas of the body on the feet, and it is this map that is worked with today. Combined with the way I use Reflexology your feet also get a complete massage and will feel lighter at the end of the session.
Benefits may include:
Thai Foot Massage is a massage of the feet and lower legs, using hands and also a Thai stick for some of the movements and reflex points. Oil or cream is used during the massage, whilst one foot is worked on the other foot is covered with a towel to prevent the foot becoming cold.
A facial is a skin care treatment for the face, which includes cleansing, exfoliation, massage, mask tone and moisturise. These steps help to take away the dead skin cells, clean the pores and hydrate the skin. The face is full of muscles so the massage eases tension out of the facial muscles. A facial will leave you looking and feeling better.
The main benefits of facial treatments are that skin takes 28 days to regenerate so a monthly facial is a great way to leave you with a clearer complexion, better muscle tone and help you to feel relaxed.
Ear Candles have been used for years. The candle is lit and then place over the opening of the ear. The candles are allowed to burn down to a specific level before extinguishing by putting in water. You will feel the heat passing down into the ear canal during the treatment.
There are several varieties available, the one's I use are hollow candles with a filter to prevent any candle substance entering the ear.
The main benefits of ear candles are through their soothing, warming and relaxing properties. Other benefits have been reported on the internet.
Ultrasound Therapy is a treatment that uses vibrations to deliver heat and energy to the area being worked, including the muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones. The main goal is to reduce pain (especially if the condition is acute) and also speed up the healing process. Very useful for acute injuries where massage is too painful, also can be used for chronic conditions to assist the bodies own healing process.
Kinesio Taping is a technique designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process and provide support and stability to the joints and muscles without restricting the body's range of movement. The taping technique also provides soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of massage therapy. Kinesio taping treats a variety of orthopedic, neurological, neuromuscular and other conditions. The tape lie on the surface of the skin thereby lifting it away from the underlying fascia this helps to target different receptors with the somatosensory system and alleviates pain and improves lymphatic drainage, and a decrease of inflammation in the affected areas.
